A Convertible Mini Cooper 1.5 Petrol. Whatever next?
Getting in the back seat
Well once you’re in… it’s not by any stretch of the imagination comfortable.
Well I suppose it’s not uncomfortable.
It’s tight I mean you really are…
I should imagine, if your driver’s got shorter legs then I have then that’s great, erm, because this seat will move forward a bit, and if you’re only a small person….. let’s not beat around the bush it works, but my God it’s somewhat claustrophobic.
You’ve got room to get in and out.
So, convertible mini.
We’re going to take this for a little bit of a spin with the roof on so that we can compare it when we take the roof off. It’s got a screen to let you know what’s behind you, which is kind of handy.
Indicating.
This is quite quiet really.
When you go over little bumps and what have you the roof makes it kind of a…
Jo: Rattling noise
Ian: There’s a slight sort of rattly, creaky noise from it.
Other than that it’s remarkably quiet.
I mean admittedly we’re not going particularly fast.
By no means is this a motorway.
So there’s an awful lot more noise that could be achieved.
The engine noise is this is slightly more noticeable than in ours, but I suppose… partly that’s because maybe you’re hearing it through the roof.
I prefer the four-wheel-drive version.
It’s doing a better job of doing the hill.
But having said that you know it’s a nice car.
As long as you’re not worried about boot space and as long as you’re not too worried about the amount of legroom the people in the back have then I think you’re all right with this.
I don’t know whether it’s more or less economical.
So let’s find out just how much windier it gets.
That’s surprisingly quiet.
I’ve got a stone caught in one of the wheels, which is always fun. So you’re going to get that ticking noise whether you want it or not.
Of all the convertibles that I’ve driven I think this is probably the quietest, and it handles nicely as well.
Quite often with convertible the roof is something that makes them quite rigid.
This doesn’t feel particularly wobbly in comparison to the the roof version so it’s quite a pleasant drive.
I should imagine if it was really quite bitter you get quite cold quite quickly.
As you can see from my barnet blowing about that there is a certain amount of wind.
No, this is good I like this.
Jo: It handles off road quite well. Doesn’t it?
It does, I mean this isn’t really, really, really off road.
If I did this…..
It’ll mean
Jo: Less wind more sky.
Ian: Less wind more sky.
Here comes a bump.
And a big pile of poo.
Did you hear the big pile of poo?
Jo: I did. I tried not to.
It’s complaining at me ’cause I’ve not got my seatbelt on.
As it should do.
But I don’t really think I need my seat belt to turn around in my own driveway.
Well, hey presto we’ve made it home in one piece
Well done us.
So all-in-all a thumbs up for the MINI Convertible.
Yeah we’d rather like one of these because, you know, fun and that sort of thing.
Not necessarily particularly practical for us because we need more boot space, but it goes nicely. It’s nice and quiet.
It’s a comfortable car and yes we’ll, we’ll er… we’ll have three.
Okay so, bye for now. See you soon.
