The Friday Show 01
In this first Friday Show of the year, we talk about the new Youtube changes and how they affect us, how SAD effected us over the winter, and what our plans for the year are. Then we lift the mood with some good news from Australia.

Welcome to the Something Vloggy Friday Show!
Which, as the name suggests, goes out on a Friday.
So you might be watching this on Friday or alternatively, other days of the week are available.
You have to order them in.
They just arrive.
Whether you want them or not.
Can we have a pause button?
Sunday evening, that would be a nice thing to pause on.
Dunno, I quite like Saturdays myself.
Do you?
Never been able to get the hang of Thursday’s though.
Or is it Tuesdays?
No, Thursdays.
Ok.
I do mean that.
I really can’t do Thursdays, I don’t know why.
Why the Friday Show?
We thought we should start doing Friday shows so that we can discuss what we’re up to.
We are now uploading on Mondays,
Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Mondays and Wednesdays are going to be things like
going out for a walk, or doing a bit of DIY around the house.
Something along those lines.
And then on Friday we’re gonna discuss what’s what we’ve been up to during the week.
Occasionally, you know, stuff that’s in the news that we feel we need to talk about.
We’re going to try and keep that positive because there’s just too much negative stuff going on; and things that affect our channel.
This Week
For example, this week, there has been some dramatic news from YouTube.
They’ve bought a load of new rules with regards to monetisation of channels, which means that currently we are monetised, but as of the 20th of next month, 20th of February, we no longer will sit in that sweet spot of being monetised.
We need to have, 4000 views in the past year, which we have, and a thousand subscribers, which we don’t have yet.
We are obviously going to be working as hard as we possibly can to encourage more people to subscribe to our channel.
Subscribe
So if you haven’t subscribed, and you like what we do, please do subscribe.
If you’d really do like our stuff please feel free to suggest us to friends because the more people watch us the more we can continue doing this.
We have five months before we have to decide whether or not this is going to be the thing that we do full-time.
If in that five months time we can make this financially viable for us just through you know the YouTube Adsense thing and Patreon, and things like that, we will just continue doing this.
That make sense?
Yeah, you could have made it more succinct.
Or less succinct.
I could certainly have made it less succinct, I’m good at that.
Yes.
The Winter
So, what else is going on then?
Well, basically what happened over the winter is we stopped… well we didn’t stop we slowed down.
We had a lot of other things happening in life because life happens, and we made… a couple of videos over the winter of us mucking about in the snow; which we only managed to get around to editing and putting up at the beginning of January.
But the winter hit us quite hard- we lost a lot of our motivation.
Apparently, it was a bad year for people who suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder.
Or SAD and people that don’t. Even people that don’t apparently have been quite dramatically affected by the lack of the right kind of light apparently is the thing.
I have to admit I was hit, with Ian, but I don’t know whether it’s because Ian was hit and his mood affected mine, or whether I was just hit with it.
But it was a bad winter.
We were ill a lot
We were also exhausted, we also went down with this cold that’s been going around that lingers.
I went down with it twice.
I only went down with it once, which is amazing, cause normally if it’s going around I’ll get it.
Fortunately- hurrah! I only got it once.
I had a cold twice and tonsillitis.
That’s just not fair.
No, it’s not.
We have managed to survive the trials and tribulations of the winter, and we’re getting back into the filming malarkey.
What Are We Going To Do?
It’s all about getting out there and doing exciting things and basically taking you with us in the form of a camera.
Yeah, we want to explore the countryside more because Wales is very pretty, and we want to see the pretty things.
So what’s happened is this year we know what we want to do films wise; which is the DIY, and the walking, with the occasional maybe something else. Last year we did all sorts of things.
We did explainer videos, and things about drones, and all sorts, and we just basically tried to find out what it is that we wanted to make in the way of a video.
And it turns out that we’ve found our thing that we would like to do.
Yeah, and it’s also sort of a response from what people watch, we’ve been keeping an eye on the analytics.
How About You Guys?
And the other thing we would like to know is how are you finding us?
Yeah, it’s a fascinating thing isn’t it?
We can see certain amounts of information.
Geographically we know you’re in
America or you’re in Japan, or you’re in Africa, or wherever.
We can see that bit.
The question that we have for you is: How did you first find out about us?
We’d also be interested to know, did somebody recommend us?
It could have been that somebody said to you
“you’ve got to watch these people they’re idiots”
orrrrrr
Anything like that.
We’d just be intrigued to know.
I mean there’s no pressure, obviously we’re not… you know….
What’s the…. I’ve lost the word!
Curiosity
Type thing.
We are curious,
We’re curious,
Curious people.
That’s us.
Have any Questions?
Leave us comments and tell us- are we boring you to tears?
Is there something you like specifically?
Is there something you’d like to see more of?
Do you have any questions?
Yeah.
Do you have any places to walk that you can suggest?
It has to be…initially, we’re looking we’re looking at South Wales.
You know Brecon Beacons; that kind of area is what we’re going to be predominantly focusing on initially.
Some Light News
And the other thing we want to start doing is, in these videos, just adding a little bit of light news.
The news I found literally about five minutes before filming is that in Australia they were teaching lifeguards how to carry out rescue operations with drones, and whilst they were doing the test they found a couple who were in trouble.
I think they were being swept out to sea.
And they just launched this floating device, and the couple were able to swim back to shore.
And from spotting them to helping them out was 70 seconds, and apparently if they were to send out an actual team of lifeguards that would have taken about six minutes.
So that’s quite cool.
Yeah, that’s the technology saving lives.
Yeah, as opposed to killing them like terminator does.
Spoliers
Conclusion
Well that’s just cheery isn’t it?
Shall we end with some pretty drone footage?
Yeah, we might do that.
We might do that…
A little bit of something, who knows?
Anyway, don’t forget- Mondays,
Wednesdays, Fridays and we will obviously be sitting in front of you in the same manner next Friday.
Thanks for joining us, and don’t forget to subscribe if you if you would like to
and share if you care.
What?
