We Explore the 12th-Century Ruins of Coity Castle

Coity Castle, The 12th Century Ruin In Glamorgan.

Coity castle is a very impressive Welsh ruin nestled in the middle of a town called Coity, near Bridgend. It began its life in the 11th century as a ringwork fortification. A ringwork is basically a mound surrounded by a ditch.

It wasn’t until the 12th-century when a Norman Lord,  Sir Payn “the Demon” de Turberville, that a more permanent stone structure began to appear.
