Ian flies the Mavic Pro Drone for the first time and then crashes.
Ian finally gets the chance to take his new Mavic Pro Drone out for a spin after darkness, updates, and rain conspired to prevent him.
If you fancy getting a Mavic for yourself have a look HERE.
Okay, off we go.
[Muttering] Just have to shut the door.
Hopefully the camera won’t end up in the grass, so it won’t get all wet.
Turn on the remote control.
Press it once, press and hold it makes a hideous noise.
Press the button once press it again and hold.
I would’ve thought it was gonna make…
[BEEP]
there you go, noises.
Turn on phone.
[REMOTE] The home point has been updated.
[REMOTE] Please check it on the map.
Okay, it now says beginner, which is nice for it to patronise me, and ready to go. So….
I need to stand well back.
Oh the moment of truth is terrifying.
Right. I’m starting the engines.
The grass is too long, would you believe.
Jo: We need to get the sheep in again.
Ian: We do.
[REMOTE] Take off.
Autofocus set to autofocus.
But I can do flying it towards me.
When you consider this is quite windy.
It’s interesting on a day like today its actually kinda difficult to see…. the lights on it and it does have lights on it.
There is a little, sort of, row of, pieces of information, saying to me, ‘hey, there’s a thing in the way. Please don’t fly into it.’
Now theoretically it shouldn’t let me either.
So if I were to…
I was going to say if I were to fly it towards myself and then I thought, that’s not a good idea at all.
I’m going to fly it towards this wall.
[REMOTE] BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP.
Now….
It didn’t actually stop me but I don’t think I got close enough for it to stop me.
I’m going to press the return to home button.
I’m going to swipe.
It’s not suitable to land here.
That used half the battery power out the thing
Jo: It’s been going for ten minutes.
Ian: it’ll do a 27 minute flight time apparently.
So that was the maiden fight.
Erm. I’ve now covered it in grass cuttings ’cause I mowed the lawn a bit when I landed it.
So I clearly need something to land on.
I think what I’ll probably do is stick a new battery on it and then take bit of a spin from there.
So links for all of these things you will be able to find are in the downstairs.
That’s what we’re going to describe the bit that’s underneath this video.
